Camp BioMed: Science Campers Explore Ethical Questions

How well do you know the experiments on people that have formed research’s ethical and regulatory structure? Take Quorum’s Research Fact or Fiction quiz below and see which ones are real. The quiz was part of Quorum’s contribution to a series of summer science camps for high schoolers.

Seattle’s Northwest Association for Biomedical Research (NWABR) is committed to increasing general awareness of biomedical science and ethics. They sponsor workshops, an annual research ethics conference, and a science fair. This summer they are hosting Camp BioMed, which offers aspiring scientists the chance to experiment and learn. The campers visit Seattle companies, and work on projects in biochemistry or neuroscience.

QIRB_campBioMedQuorum contributed by offering the science campers an overview of the ethical questions surrounding human subject research. Our regulatory attorneys introduced the aspiring scientists to the ethical challenges of research through this series of true-or-false cases.

Judging from the questions and comments that came from the group, NWABR’s program is attracting smart, curious people.

See how you do on Quorum’s Fact-or-Fiction Quiz.
