Quorum’s Research Participant Liaison ProgramQuorum has established a Research Participant Liaison program to ensure that participants can reach an IRB employee with questions or comments. Quorum Review has identified several staff members to serve as liaisons who can help address concerns raised by participants. Liaisons can even respond to calls from Spanish speaking participants. Quorum’s toll-free telephone number for research participants is included in each Quorum-approved consent form. Quorum’s goal in this process is to educate the participant and facilitate communication between the site and the participant. Frequently, Quorum’s liaison can address the participant’s questions by reviewing the consent form with the participant. In other situations the liaison refers the participant to the site to ask questions. Occasionally, a Quorum liaison will contact the site to ask the site to follow up with the participant or to gather additional information. In addition to being available by telephone, Quorum has a website section specifically for research participants. This can be found at http://www.quorumreview.com/research.asp. Information is available here regarding research studies and the role of the IRB. We find that the information on the website answers many common questions. |
